2022 RWR Author of the Year

Candice Bundy

The first thing you notice about Candice Bundy is her quiet sparkle. Then she speaks and you realize how ridiculously smart she is. And then you catch her energy, as you realize that her serene exterior hides the buzzing heart of a serious achiever.

No one was surprised when Candice was voted in as the 2022 RWR Author of the Year. The Author of the Year is someone who publishes, naturally, but perhaps most importantly, she is also someone who contributes to the RWR community, and Candice Bundy ticks off all the boxes.

Candice Bundy is all about giving back, and that was a major touchpoint in her presentation as 2022 Writer of the Year. She spoke candidly about her own author journey. She strongly encouraged us to track our gains, so that recency bias doesn’t distort our wins. Most of all, she talked about the importance of community and the support she has found through RWR.

Candice joined Romance Writers of the Rockies in 2018, when the organization was known as Colorado Romance Writers. In 2019, she volunteered to serve on the board. The following year she served as the Vice President of Programming and brought in auth-lebrities like Becca Syme who taught us all about our strengths, and Liz Pelletier who showed us how to Growth Hack a Bestseller.

As if serving on the board for two years wasn’t enough, after stepping down from her programming role, Candice took up the mantle of organizing our annual spring writing retreat at the Hideaway in Colorado Springs. This year marks Candice’s third year as the Committee Chair for the Writing Retreat—and we are so very grateful for her service, and can’t wait for the next retreat.
