This committee contains volunteers who plan and run our various events throughout the year. Volunteers may be involved with one or more events. Volunteers are welcome to assist with any or all events without needing to be a Chair or Coordinator.
Duties vary by event but will often include:
- Brainstorming event ideas
- Planning of events
- Set up and break down of events
- Promotion of events
Unless otherwise noted, Chairs and Coordinators in this committee report to the Vice President of Programming.

Chair, Author Celebration
Responsible for the overall planning and organization of RWR’s annual Author Celebration, typically in August. Includes ensuring the following tasks are completed (list non-exhaustive):
- Securing of venue
- Coordinating with VP, Programming on date, time, budget, and other details.
- Overseeing group of volunteers for set up and take down of Author Celebration
Chair, Retreats
Responsible for the overall planning and organization of RWR’s annual retreat(s), typically in the Spring and (optionally) Fall. Includes ensuring the following tasks are completed (list non-exhaustive):
- Securing of venue
- Coordinating with VP, Programming on date, time, budget, and other details.
- Coordination of programming at Retreats.
Chair, Holiday Party
Responsible for the overall planning and organization of RWR’s annual Holiday Party, typically in December. Includes ensuring the following tasks are completed (list non-exhaustive):
- Securing of venue
- Coordinating with VP, Programming on date, time, budget, and other details.
- Overseeing group of volunteers for set up and take down of Holiday Party
Coordinator, Community Events
Responsible for the overall planning and organization of Community Engagement events. Tasks vary by event. Event types include (list non-exhaustive):
- Group Signing Events
- Tabling at literary events
Coordinator, Volunteer/Writer of the Year
Responsible for the overall planning and organization of RWR’s annual Volunteer and Writer of the Year elections. Includes ensuring the following tasks are completed (list non-exhaustive):
- Collection of nominations (June)
- Running of Election (July)
- Purchase of awards
- Announcement of winners (at Author Celebration/August)
